The HAC active cathode was independently
developed by Whizzo Co. under the financial
support of the Chinese Academy of Science
(CAS)and the National Plan Council, It is desi-
gned in accordance with the operating conditi-
ons of ion-membrane process in alkali produc-
tion and alkaline water electrolysis. The cathod-
es are made up of Fe or Ni substrate and the
active layer containing multi-metallic compounds
coated on it.There are no noble metal elements
in the active layer and the special manufacture
technique brings the cathode excellent intrinsic
catalytic activity for H2 evolution.This is a inno-
vate technique to manufacture active cathode w-
hich is different from the traditional Ranney Ni
active cathode that lowers the H2 evolution ove-
rpotential only by increasing the surface area or
using noble metals.
